In Recovery

Oh, it is raining again today? Of course it is!

I'm taking it easy for the next couple of days in order to recover from the last couple of days of activity. I'm sore from the scrambling and climbing. That bruise on my foot is also located inconveniently where it gets rubbed as I walk. Luckily the places I have been have been so great I forgot about it.

The south shore areas are really awe inspiring. Also, I'm developing a great love for black sand beaches and Icelandic lamb soup (even though I've never really enjoyed lamb and am working on eating less meat).

The sheep here aren't like what I'm used to seeing. They look more like fluffy mountain goats with curved horns. I also got to hike behind a waterfall yesterday as well. It was surprisingly peaceful and quiet back there.

I'm on the last leg of my trip. Back home in a few days.

  1. Hello MW
Have to agree, having a 'day off' in the middle of a trip is a good thing in our experience - as you've found out it will give you time to rest and recuperate and look forward to what is to come
We are going to Newfoundland in August (with rellies from Nova Scotia) but I would love to go to Iceland. Sounds like you are having a lot of fun - or you're good at stringing us along lol

  2. It sounds fascinating. And completely different from anywhere else. A couple of days of enforced relaxation is good too though. Enjoy.

  3. It sounds so wonderful! Are you going to make a stop at a hot springs? I'll bet it would do wonders for your sore foot. And be quite lovely in general! :)

Enjoy your holiday break and the rest of your stay.

  4. Of course, you don't want to have to take a vacation after the vacation =) Will you be posting up some pictures of the scenery when you come back?

  5. Hi Cathy!

I am so excited for you about your trip to NL. I hope you love it as much as I do. Some parts of it resemble Iceland.

Thanks Lizzie! I will, and definately need it! By the way, I hope you had a great Mother's day. Our Mother's day is in May here.

    Hi Northern Living Allowance!

Unfortunately the hot springs they have there I've seen would burn you alive (enough to give you 2nd degree burns) so I'm going to have to settle for a hot shower!

    Hi Sandra!

Once I get them organized I will post a few. Hopefully they turned out. Most of them were taken in the pouring rain. I only had one afternoon with sun.
