Sunday Ponderings -- Timing

I read somewhere some time ago that:

... you can have everything you want, but not necessary all of it at the same time ...

or some version of the above.

Do you believe that? How does timing affect your decisions? Does opportunities really favor the prepared?

  1. I subscribe to the belief that life is a journey, not a destination. Given that, it makes sense you might experience everything you want, but definitely not at the same time.

  2. @ Mr. GoTo: That has been my experience too. I have to admit that I have been known to be extremely impatient about getting to the destination!

  3. The quotation I am familiar with is "You can have anything you want, but not everything you want."

Which of course has the corollary that you should work hardest to 'get' the most important thing you want rather than dilute your efforts trying to achieve everything (and failing miserably!).

  4. Hi DiscoveredJoys!

The corollary would requre some insight into true priorities -- not always the easiest to find!

There is definately a price for everything.

    Thank you for your insights!

  5. Hi Middle Way,

The version I heard really hit home: 'You can have anything you want, but you cannot have everything you want.'

Ouch, talk about making choices. But true, because we are limited mainly by time. There's only so much we can do in one lifetime.

  6. So true Daphne! That's why figuring out what is most important to you is so important!
