Pantene's Beautiful Lengths Program

I'm really excited about this as I've wanted to do it for a long time. That is, donating hair to make into wigs for cancer patients.

It used to be that they would only take 12 inches but Pantene has a program called "Beautiful Lengths" for people who are willing to donate a minimum of 8 inches. They will even pay for the postage! I found this program through the Canadian Cancer Society website. Hopefully it exists all over.

I've earmarked this spring as my date for the cut. I'm even going to splurge and see my old stylist for a chic new look.

  1. Wow. This is such a coincidence. My daughter (age 6) donated her beautiful long locks to make wigs for kids with Cancer. She cut her hair on December 23rd, just before Christmas. She had been talking about doing it for a while - she has a friend who did it last year.

I am so proud of her. I took her to my hairdresser. They made a big deal out of it. They asked me beforehand if they could call the newspaper! We declined. The shorter cut really suits her. I let her get a purple streak in her hair after it was cut.

She says she is going to start growing it again so she can donate again.

Good for you. It is such a worthy cause. If you go to the Canadian Cancer Society Website, there is a list of charities that make wigs and some of them take as little as 6 inches.

  2. Good for your daughter for starting so young!

I'm going to look for shorter alternatives because it would mean I could donate more often.

    Thanks!

  3. What a great idea. My hair is getting on the long side, simply because I haven't got around to cutting it. Perhaps I should let it go a bit longer and then donate it once it's longer. Something to think about, anyway.

I am so glad that there are more programs out there now. It really doesn't cost us anything outside of time so for me, it is one of the easiest ways for me to make a difference.
